The Underdog Founder with Edrizio De La Cruz
January 25 @ 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Edrizio De La Cruz is a Wharton Alum and the first Latino Partner at Y Combinator. His book “The Underdog Founder” shares his odyssey from selling guavas in a Dominican barrio to immigrating to Harlem, then dropping out of college and the U.S. Airforce, to become an aircraft technician to make ends meet. He later returned to college, worked on Wall Street, and earned his MBA from Wharton. After getting his MBA, he started a fintech company, Arcus which he grew and sold to Mastercard, in its largest latam acquisition in history.
“An exhilarating memoir, candid, unsentimental and brilliantly courageous, an indelible portrait of the American dream and the American nightmare.” – Junot Diaz, Pulitzer Prize-winning author.
The book is a case study on how diversity programs and affirmative action are vital in helping underrepresented professionals achieve the American dream – one that goes against all odds.
